I loathe festivals. I really do. But I made an exception for this year's ROTR.
So many great bands. We unfortunately lost our Friday headliner (Soundgarden)
and had poor weather all 3 days, but ROTR persevered & the show went on!
Because this was recorded in a huge soccer stadium, please do not expect
perfect sound. To avoid crowd surfers on Saturday, I decided to stand further
back in the field near the soundboard tent. I positioned myself against the
rail to the right of the board, which happened to be in direct line with the
right stack. While the sound is a bit more distant, it was much easier to tape
and made it much more enjoyable. Korn was robbed of their final 25 minutes of
their set due to the threat of incoming weather, The final 4 songs on the
setlist (from what I overheard) were: "Twist", "Good God", "Falling Away From
Me" & "Freak On A Leash". The storm ended up hitting Columbus 75 minutes later.
Major bummer!
